INDEPENDENCE PROVIDES GROWTH, SECURITY & HAPPINESS

What does July 4, 1776, mean to you? To me, it is a day of celebration because it represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. The Declaration was adopted by delegates from 13 colonies that wanted complete independence from Great Britain. We now celebrate this holiday with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades, and concerts to casual family gatherings and barbeques.

To ensure that the United States retains its Independence we must protect our country. Our United States military is a force that serves to protect our security and way of life. Not only are our military a fighting force but they are leaders and humanitarians that we rely on for protection and order.

I am blessed to have a son, Wayne, who dedicated his life for 6 years to serve in the United States Navy. When Wayne was sworn in, he signed his life over to serve this country, his country, no matter the circumstances. During his 6 years in the Navy, he was deployed twice and missed most of the family holidays while we kept our independence and security.
